Horry County police arrested William Tykee Boyd, 27, of Tabor City, North Carolina, after they say he pointed a semi-automatic rifle at a security officer.
Charges are pending.
Police were called to the G-Spot Nightclub on Highway 90 in Longs for a shooting about 4:35 a.m. Sunday. They say armed security personnel were trying to clear out the parking lot when someone got a semi-automatic rifle from a vehicle and aimed it at the crowd. They say a security officer told the suspect to drop the weapon and the suspect then aimed it at the officer. The officer shot the suspect in the torso.
Police say then Boyd picked up the rifle and aimed it at the security officer. The officer shot Boyd in the arm.
Both suspects left in a vehicle and went to a hospital.
Police plan to arrest the other suspect when he's released from the hospital, most likely Monday.
The security officer has not been charged.
