(AP) -- Two Democrat representatives don't think much of Republican Gov. Nikki Haley's instructions for state employees to answer the phone by saying, "It's a great day in South Carolina."

The Post and Courier of Charleston reported that Charleston Rep. Wendell Gilliard and Rock Hill Rep. John King have introduced a bill to block the use of the phone greeting.

Gilliard says it makes no sense to say "It's a great day in South Carolina" when the state has a double-digit unemployment rate and people are losing their homes.

Haley conceded some might think the greeting was hokey when she instructed state employees to answer the phone using the phrase. She said Wednesday she's surprised the greeting is an issue when people should be working to improve the economy.
