Florence attorney Jay Jordan is the first Republican from the Pee Dee to run for the new 7th Congressional District.
The new district includes all of the Grand Strand and most of the Pee Dee.
Jordan announced his candidacy in early November. He told NewsChannel 15, "We have this historic opportunity for representation in the seventh district and I think it's important that a lot of folks get out there and run. That way we can have the best representation possible."
