McENTIRE JOINT NATIONAL GUARD BASE, S.C. (AP) - Members of the South Carolina Air National Guard are conducting some air defense exercises.
The Guard says fighter jets assigned to the 169th Fighter Wing are flying Wednesday near Florence and Louisville, Ga.
The Guard says the jets might be seen escorting a single-engine aircraft that belongs to the South Carolina Civil Air Patrol.
Officials say the exercises are carefully planned and controlled and help ensure that McEntire is ready to respond at any time to airborne threats over the United States.
