AAA Motor Club says four percent fewer people will drive to their holiday destination than last year. But the amount of people expected to fly has doubled.

More than 48,000 people are expected to fly and 550,000 are expected to drive.

AAA blames the shift on gas prices, saying the higher prices prompted more people to take to the sky.

In the Myrtle Beach area, gas prices are currently averaging $3.14 a gallon, up 42 cents over this time last year.

Charleston has the highest price in the state at $3.18 and Greenville has the lowest at $3.09.
