CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - The pilot that deftly guided a disabled US Airways jet to a miraculous splashdown in the Hudson River has been reunited with the now historic plane.
The Charlotte Observer reports that Capt. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger III reboarded the Airbus 320 Friday at the Carolinas Aviation Museum in Charlotte.
US Airways Flight 1549 had just taken off from LaGuardia airport when a flock of geese disabled the engines on Jan. 15, 2009. Sullenberger safely glided into a water landing. All 155 passengers and crew members were rescued.
After the crash, the airliner was closed during the National Transportation Safety Board investigation. It arrived at the Charlotte museum this summer aboard a flat-bed truck.
Sullenberger's visit was part of a fundraising flight for a Florida aviation organization.
