Local company awarded a $41-million military contract

SOPAKCO of Mullins was awarded a contract to make meals-ready-to-eat or MRE's for the military. 

The $41-million contract is good for one year.

The Department of Defense said yesterday it was a more than $2-billion contract good through 2016, but company official, Lonnie Thompson, tells us it is a one year, $41 million contract.
