ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) - York County officials are assessing the damage from a storm system that killed three people and injured at least five others.
Sheriff's spokesman Mike Scurlock said Thursday there had been no other reports of deaths of injuries overnight.
The storm thought to be a tornado struck about 5 miles southwest of Rock Hill around 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Scurlock says at least seven homes were damage or destroyed.
He did not have details on the injuries.
The victims' names have not been released while relatives are notified.
Officers have blocked roads leading into the area and only allowed emergency workers and power crews into the area.
Sheriff Bruce Bryant has asked Gov. Nikki Haley for state assistance.
Another possible tornado was reported in neighboring Chester County but no one was hurt.
