Monday morning, the Georgetown County Election Commission conducted a mandatory recount of the results in one of the races for a seat on Georgetown City Council.

Two incumbents, Clarence Smalls and Peggy Wayne, were re-elected November 8th. But the race between incumbent Rudolph Bradley and Carol Jayroe went to a recount since less than one percent separated the two.

Jayroe had 678 votes and Bradley had 677 votes in the original count on November 8th. Five challenged ballots were reviewed at the election certification hearing November 10th and the vote count changed to 681 for Bradley and remained at 678 for Jaroe.

After Monday's recount, Bradley was declared the winner with 681 votes to Jayroe's 678.
