Thursday morning, the Georgetown County Election Commission had to determine the outcome of Tuesday's Andrews Mayor's race and City Council race in a certification hearing.

For Andrews mayor, Rodney Giles was the only candidate on the ballot, and he got 282 votes. There were 292 write-in votes. The top write-in was Sudha Patel with 174 votes. Giles didn't get enough for a simple majority (50 percent of the votes plus one vote), so Giles and Patel will face each other in a runoff on November 22nd.

For Andrews town council, there were three seats open, but only two candidates on the ballot, Patsy Greene and Angela Anderson. There were 526 write-in votes. On November 22, there will be a runoff between Mattie McGee, who got 131 votes, and David Tisdale, who got 132.
