MYRTLE BEACH -- The South Carolina Secretary of State's office has issued a violation against a Myrtle Beach non-profit organization for failing to disclose monies swapped last year with the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce.

In a letter sent to Coastal Uncorked on Monday, the state ordered the food and wine festival to file an amended tax return in the next 15 days showing the money swap.

The non-profit could be fined $2,000 per day for every day it's late filing.

The $300,000 payment Coastal Uncorked failed to disclose was a payment the chamber made to the festival for marketing expenses.

Chamber officials said it paid $300,000 to Coastal Uncorked on Dec. 28, then requested a transfer two days later because of concerns over a possible income tax liability.

The Secretary of State's spokeswoman, Renee Daggerhart, told NewsChannel 15 via email that the agency has no further comment on the notice of violation.

We have left a message at The Brandon Agency, the agency representing Coastal Uncorked, for comment. We'll post their response when we hear back from them.
