Smoking materials cause house fire on Hwy 378

HORRY COUNTY -- Horry County Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Justin Gibbins says a fire at a home on Highway 378 Monday afternoon was started by improperly discarded smoking materials.

The fire started around 12:30 p.m.

There was extensive damage to the structure, but firefighters saved the majority of the contents.

They had the fire out in about an hour.

No one was hurt.
