With the GOP debate in Myrtle Beach a few months away, Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich campaigned in the Pee Dee and along the Grand Strand Saturday.
The former Speaker of the House spoke in front of a crowd of nearly 300 people at the Chesterfield Inn in Myrtle Beach. Earlier today he campaigned at a Bazen's restaurant in Florence.
The one time front runner for the Republican nomination has slid down in the polls. But in his speech, he announced how he plans to take on President Barack Obama on issues like healthcare and the economy.
Gingrich also sat down with NewsChannel 15's Tim McGinnis about how he's managing his campaign.
"The model for our campaign is the tortoise. We go for it one step at a time. We don't sleep. We're not like the bunny rabbit. So we are gradually gaining ground and I had always hoped to be fully competitive by early December," explains Gingrich.
The entire interview will air on Carolina This Week Sunday at 9 a.m.
