Horry County Fire Rescue says a woman was hospitalized after she drove her car into the BB&T bank in Carolina Forest.

Battalion Chief Richard Blackburn says the woman has a medical condition. She was across the street at the Post Office, came across Renee Drive, through the shrubbery and into the building, Blackburn says.

Blackburn deemed the building unsafe and evacuated it. He says he believes Code Enforcement will condemn the building. Besides structural damage, the building was charred with smoke because, Blackburn says, the woman left her foot on the accelerator and the tires caused the smoke.

No one in the building was hurt.
