(AP) -- Texas Gov. Rick Perry has picked up a key endorsement in South Carolina.
House Speaker Bobby Harrell threw his support behind Perry on Tuesday. He says Perry has the integrity to lead the country and will fight for lower taxes.
After speaking to reporters at the Statehouse, Perry went into Gov. Nikki Haley's office for a meeting. Perry also gave a policy speech in Gray Court earlier in the day and will wrap up his visit to South Carolina with a fundraiser.
Perry is one of three major GOP candidates who have not paid the $35,000 fee for the state's Jan. 21 primary. Campaigns of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann said they will join Perry in paying the fee later this week.
