CAROLINA FOREST -- Carl Butts, an employee at the Carolina Forest Kroger, bought a scratch-off lottery ticket at work three weeks ago. Butts knew he had a winning ticket, but was waiting for a day off work to cash it.
"Everybody at work thinks I'm crazy because I haven't already been over to get the money," he said. "They keep asking me, 'What are you waiting on?'"
"My boss even asked me if I needed him to drive me here," he said.
He waited 21 days with no regrets.
"I can't quit work for $100,000," he said.
The Myrtle Beach man won the last top prize on the Jeep® instant ticket.
The odds of winning $100,000 were 1 in 520,000.
That Kroger received a commission of $1,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
