Darlington County banned the sale of bath salts Monday night.

County leaders say they've seen an increased use in the synthetic drug and that use has lead to serious physical effects.

They say it's also put a strain on law enforcement.

Bath salts can replicate the effects of cocaine, ecstasy and LSD and are commonly sold as Vanilla Sky, Bliss or White Rush.

It's now illegal to anyone to advertise, possess, buy, sell or use synthetic stimulants like bath salts and manufactured marijuana in unincorporated Darlington County.
