(AP) -- A League of Women Voters review has found human errors in last year's South Carolina elections that led to incorrect vote totals.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reports the errors were not big enough to change the outcome of elections but prompted the State Election Commission to change some procedures.

The review said in eight counties there were significant problems getting independent audits of vote totals to insure accurate numbers.

An earlier audit by the State Election Commission found similar problems but said none of the mistakes would have changed the outcome of an election.

Commission spokesman Chris Whitmire says the commission has new computer software allowing counties to conduct audits before they certify the results.

Whitmire says the state also will audit results before elections are certified.
