Highway Patrol charged James Strumke with changing lanes unlawfully. They say he caused the four-car crash at Carolina Forest Boulevard and Highway 501 about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Highway Patrol Cpl. Bob Beres says the crash started when the dump truck driven by Stumke sideswiped a Chrysler Sebring. He says the Sebring hit a Jeep Cherokee and a Dodge Caliber.

Two people were taken to the hospital. One was brought to Conway Medical Center. The other was flown by medical helicopter to New Hanover Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina. Those drivers' conditions have not been released.
