NORTH MYRTLE BEACH -- The man who was hit and killed by a car while walking across Highway 17 in North Myrtle Beach Sunday night has been identified.

Horry County Coroner Robert Edge says Jerry Armstrong, 66, of Baden Lake, North Carolina died from blunt force trauma.

Armstrong was hit by a car around 9:45 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 17 and Vereen Road.

Highway Patrol says Armstrong was wearing dark clothing when he walked in front of the car.

Troopers are investigating.
