(AP) -- Businesses on South Carolina's Grand Strand expect motorcycle riders this week for the annual fall rally.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reported the rally is to begin Wednesday.

Officials expect an increase in the number of bikers, as occurred during the May rallies.

Attendance at the spring bike rallies increased after changes in the way Myrtle Beach treated motorcycle riders. Attendance at Myrtle Beach rallies fell when the city passed an ordinance in 2008 requiring bikers to wear helmets.

The South Carolina Supreme Court struck down the ordinance last year.

There is no word on how many bikers are expected for the five-day event this week. The fall rally is always smaller. But Jamie Keats of Jamin' Leather expects this year's event to be better than last year.
