Brandon Lavon Burgess, 25, of Myrtle Beach is charged with murder in connection with the death of a man Friday morning.
Horry County Coroner Robert Edge says Benjamin Alan Singleton, 40, of Georgetown, was killed. Edge adds Singleton had head injuries.
Capt. David Knipes with Myrtle Beach Police says they got a call about 6 a.m. Friday about an assault in the 1300 block of Spivey Street at Carver Apartments. He says Singleton was beaten with a hammer and taken to the hospital. Singleton died at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
