Apartment where the victim was beaten with a hammer
Myrtle Beach police are investigating a man's death after he was beaten with a hammer.
Horry County Coroner Robert Edge says Benjamin Alan Singleton, 40, of Georgetown, was killed. An autopsy will be performed in the morning to determine an exact cause of death.
Captain David Knipes says they got a call about 6 a.m. Friday about an assault in the 1300 block of Spivey Street at Carver Apartments. He says Singleton was beaten with a hammer and taken to the hospital. Singleton died at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
Police have one person in custody. He has not yet been charged. Police have sought warrants.
