(AP) -- South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley says she's learned a lesson about talking about things without knowing the facts. Haley said Monday she will be more careful after telling a crowd a couple of weeks ago that half the people wanting jobs at the Savannah River Site failed drug tests and the other half failed reading and writing tests.

Savannah River Site spokesmen have said that less than 1 percent of the workers and contractors seeking security badges to work at the site fail drug tests.

Haley said Monday she had repeated what she was told as she campaigned for governor by a man involved in hiring.

Haley now says the man will not substantiate the claim. Haley earlier blamed the Commerce Department for bad job development numbers she had used.
