People living in northern Horry County have a chance to vote on whether they want Mcleod Regional Medical Center in Florence to take over two local hospitals.
Thursday, a group in favor of the referendum held a news conference at North Myrtle Beach City Hall.
The referendum asks if voters if they support transferring the assets and properties of Seacoast Medical Center and Loris Community Hospital to the Mcleod System.
The Citizens for Better Healthcare Services says the partnership will provide more specialists and better technology to the area. Ed Prince is Co-Chair for CBHS and says that this is "an opportunity for our community to build a bond and relationship with an award winning hospital system such as McLeod Health and that's going to only improve the type of healthcare services we provide here in our community."
Green Sea, Floyds, Simpson Creek, Little River, and parts of Dogwood Neck and Bayboro townships can vote on November 1st.
