GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - The state Division of Motor Vehicles has closed one of Greensboro's two license plate offices after arresting the manager and an employee on a total of nine felony charges.
The News & Record of Greensboro reported the office was closed Friday after the arrests of 51-year-old Felicia Edwards of Chapel Hill and 47-year-old Gwendolyn Wilson of Greensboro. DMV says they were charged with notary fraud and are accused of notarizing blank documents that anyone could use to transfer ownership of a vehicle.
DMV said it also closed the office because the private contractor, who operated there since 1993, no longer exists as a legal corporation.
The two women were released on written promises to appear later in court. It wasn't clear if they have attorneys.
