Thursday afternoon, Richard Gregor, 32, of Myrtle Beach led Myrtle Beach police, Horry County police, Horry County Sheriff's Office, and Coastal Carolina University police in a chase with his 1994 Honda Civic along Highways 501 and 544 in Myrtle Beach and Conway.
Myrtle Beach Police first tried to stop Gregor for a stolen license plate on the vehicle he was driving. Gregor alluded the officer around Seaboard Street.
Horry County Deputy Sheriff David Smith then spotted Gregor where he initiated his pursuit westbound on Highway 544. Gregor failed to pull over for Smith, led him to Highway 501 and started to travel east on Highway 501 in Conway toward Myrtle Beach.
Smith says Gregor then started to travel in the median of 501 at speeds above 60 mph. Smith canceled his pursuit of Gregor for the safety of himself and other vehicles traveling on the road.
After he alluded the second police department, Gregor pulled into the Food Lion parking lot on 501 and hit a vehicle. He drove down Cox Ferry Road toward 544 and Coastal Carolina University Police then engaged in a pursuit with him.
With CCU police in pursuit, Horry County Police picked up their chase for Gregor eastbound on 501 toward Carolina Forest. Gregor again alluded the officers and pulled into a Chevrolet Dealership where he hit another vehicle.
CCU and Horry County police were called to the dealership on 501. They continued their pursuit. Gregor then parked his vehicle behind the Dick's Pawn Shop and ran, when police tried taze him.
The officers then caught Gregor, who is now in the custody of the Horry County Sheriff's Department.
Horry County deputies charged Gregor with failure to yield to a blue light and siren, use of another vehicles license, no South Carolina operator's license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
Myrtle Beach police have also charged Gregor with reckless driving and driving under suspension.
Including the four police departments mentioned, South Carolina Highway Patrol was called in to handle the vehicles struck in the parking lots.
