A crash on Old River Road has claimed the life of one person.

It happened just before 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Troopers say the driver of a Toyota crossed the center line while going southbound and hit a Nissan being driven by Michael Kress, 57, of Aynor.

Florence County Coroner Bubba Matthews says Kress died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

The driver of the Toyota was taken to the hospital.

No charges have been filed. Highway Patrol's special accident investigation team is looking into the crash.
