Below is a list of 9/11 events going on in the Grand Strand and Pee Dee:
7:30 a.m.- Grand Strand Running Club hosts a 5K Run/Walk and 1 mile walk. Starts on Ocean Blvd and finish in Plyer Park
8:46 a.m.- Opening Ceremonies for the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at the Yachtsman Resort to benefit The National Fallen Firefighters Fund.
The first firefighter will start the stair climb at 9:03 a.m. 343 firefighters, each carrying the name of a fallen firefighter, will climb 111 flights in full gear.
10:00 a.m. - Dead Dog Saloon in Murrells Inlet
Live music, entertainment, auctions and prizes start at 11:00 a.m.
Formal ceremonies at 1:00 p.m.
11:00 a.m. - Special patriotic service being held at Socastee Church of God at 4475 Mill Pond Road in Myrtle Beach
11:00 a.m.- Sands Ocean Dunes Resort Hall of Heroes
There will be a memorial service held by Coastal Carolina Shields
Noon- Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in North Myrtle Beach
Memorial Mass and Luncheon
2:00 p.m. - 9/11 Memorial Dedication Ceremony at Midway Fire Rescue- 67 Saint Paul Place in Litchfield
Monument unveiling and dedication- created at the HQ station by an Eagle Scout for his project
2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. - Carolina Human Reinvestment hosting an appreciation/memorial event at Huntington State Park in Pawleys Island
They are planning to include a sand sculpture memorial. Cookout and games from 2pm-5pm. Memorial service from 5:30pm-6:30pm
2:30 p.m. - Socastee Church of God meeting at Horry County Courthouse in Conway to join in prayer and remembrance
3:00 p.m. - Main Street, North Myrtle Beach - Memorial service with a 21 gun salute
American flags will be provided to the first 2,974 people to represent the victims of 9/11
4:00 p.m. - Coker College in Hartsville hosts "A Community Remembers" program
The program will include remarks from the Coker College President, music, dancing and poetry readings
4:00 p.m. - First United Methodist Church is holding a 10th anniversary event in commemoration of the events of 9/11 at 1001 Fifth Avenue, Conway
5:00 p.m. - Veterans Park in Florence
Ceremony to unveil the newest plaque for the Wall of Honor and dedication of a 9/11 monument
5:00 p.m. - Parade to honor Dillion County "First Responders." Parade begins at the City of Dillion Wellness Center
6:00 p.m. - Dillion County Ministerial Alliance will have a memorial service at the City of Dillion Wellness Center. There will be a retired NY police officer as the guest speaker.
