South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that killed two people in Darlington County.

It happened at the intersection of Lawson Road and Society Hill Road just before 8 p.m. Monday.

Troopers say a car ran off the road and hit a tree. The driver and a passenger in the car were killed. Another passenger was taken to McLeod Regional Medical Center. That person's condition has not been released.

Darlington County Coronor Todd Hardee says he will release the victims' names after he notifies next of kin.
