Myrtle Beach police arrested a man from Ohio after he assaulted an officer on the beach Saturday night.
According to a police report, Christopher Rutledge Thompson, 23, was intoxicated and lying face down in the sand on 4th Avenue North. Officers asked Thompson to get up when he refused and started cussing at them. Police saw a bottle of Jim Beam next to Thompson and told him he was being arrested for public intoxication.
Thompson moved to his knees, lunged at an officer, picked him up, then threw him in the sand. Thompson managed to hit the officer in the face and attempted to bite him.
Police handcuffed Thompson and charged him with Assault on a Police Officer, Public Intoxication, Resisting Arrest and Bringing Glass on the Beach.
