Myrtle Beach man charged for Attempted Sexual Assault

Conway Police charged Matthew Elkins, 29, of Myrtle Beach with Burglary 1st Degree, and Assault with the Intent to Commit Criminal Sexual Conduct 1st Degree in connection with an incident which occurred on Technology Blvd. on August 24, 2011.

Conway Police responded to a residence on Technology Blvd to a reported home invasion. Officers later learned that the subject entered her bedroom while she was asleep. The victim woke up and found the suspect hovering over her. A struggle ensued and the victim was shoved into a night stand. The suspect escaped the apartment to an unknown location.

Conway Police and the Coastal Carolina University Department of Public Safety searched the area but were unable to locate anyone matching the suspect's description.

Conway Police and CCU officials found Elkins and arrested him this afternoon.
