A front that has been stalled out just to our south will gradually drift back north across the area today. This will increase our humidity a bit and bring in the chance for a few showers and storms. Most areas will still remain dry, especially Inland. Temps will max out in the mid and upper 80s. .
We still need to keep a watchful eye on Hurricane Irene, but the threat for a direct hit is becoming less likely. Hurricane Irene has become a major hurricane reaching Category 3 strength with winds over 115mph. The forecast track takes Irene over the Bahamas and making a gradual turn to the North. There is still some uncertainty to the exact track as a small shift west or east would have varying impacts on what our area could see. Head over to our Tropical Update page where there are 3 scenarios painted out of the possible thinking on Irene. While you're there you can use our new Interactive Hurricane Tracker.
