A 5.9 earthquake in Virginia has been felt in Washington, New York City and North Carolina. Residents along the Grand Strand and in the Pee Dee contacted the NewsChannel 15 newsroom in Pawleys Island, Loris and in Mullins saying the felt the impact of the quake.
The epicenter was reported in the Richmond, VA area and believed to be more than 80 square miles wide. Rumbles were felt as far as New York, Ohio, down to Georgia.
It's prompted an evacuation of the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol.
