Amy Dianne Smith was arrested for allegedly stabbing her girlfriend.
The victim of a Tuesday stabbing told a Myrtle Beach police detective she didn't want to press charges against the suspect, who is also her girlfriend.
Myrtle Beach police responded to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center around 4:30 p.m. to speak with the victim who said she'd gotten into a fight with Amy Dianne Smith, 41, at her home on Winchester Ct.
The victim told the detective she didn't believe Smith meant to stab her with a knife and signed a statement indicating she didn't want police to be involved.
The victim was originally found by Horry County police near the intersection of Highway 31 near Watertower Road around 2 p.m. Sgt. Robert Kegler says the investigation was turned over to Myrtle Beach because the stabbing didn't happen within Horry County Police's jurisdiction.
According to Myrtle Beach Police reports, Smith and the victim were both arrested and charged with shoplifting from Belk at Coastal Grand Mall on Monday. The store's security officer told police the two women conspired to steal several items of clothing by removing the security tags with pliers. Reports show the women also took bottles of perfume from the cosmetics department.
Once arrested, police discovered Smith and the victim both have prior shoplifting convictions.
