April Jones took the necessary steps to prevent breast cancer. Doctors suggested she received a double-mastectomy in February as a preventative measure against cancer, saying it wasn't a matter of if, but when.

As she lives cancer free, her husband, Wayne, hasn't given up his fight against the disease.

He started the Firefighters 4 Komen group on the Grand Strand to raise money to support the breast cancer research organization, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and he's come up with a permanent idea to help his group reach their $20,000 goal.

Jones reached out to Hole in the Wall Tattoo of Conway who will donate their time and equipment, tattooing people with the breast cancer pink ribbon logo.

"Them doing this is just a way to help support what my wife has been through, as well as so many other women," says Wayne. "It's not about one person. It's about everyone showing awareness to fight a horrible disease that is affecting so many people and family members."

The free tattoos will be available Sunday October, 2nd at Hole in the Wall Tattoo from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Each person wanting to get a tattoo will be asked to give a $50 donation with all proceeds benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure. There will be things outside for the families of those getting tattoos, like face painting and a silent auction.

There are two different tattoos, one for women with the more conventional pink ribbon and the other for men with a more masculine touch of the gauge.

Tuesday, Chris Regan and Marie Rimm got the tattoos to be personal art displays for the event.

"Helping people with the awareness of it is one of the main things," says Regan. "and also finding a cure for it. It definitely is a good cause."

Firefighters 4 Komen will announce their total donation at the Komen Low Country Race at Daniel Island on October 15th.

Hole in the Wall Tattoo expects each breast cancer awareness tattoo to take 30 minutes to complete. They ask that you pay with cash only.

Vouchers will be given to schedule a time, if you are unable to get a tattoo during the event.
