An Horry County man hung his dead dog, who he says was poisoned, as a warning to his neighbors that someone is poisoning local pets.
Horry County police are now investigating reports of several pet poisonings in the Dunn Acres subdivision.
On Monday, police responded to 2000 Dunn Acres Drive where the homeowner, Clifford Clark told police his two black labs had been poisoned.
According to the report, Clark noticed his dog Maisy was bleeding and Pee Joe 'wasn't acting normal' on Friday night. Clark took both dogs to Waccamaw Regional Vet Clinic on Saturday morning. The veterinarian told Clark that Maisy had possibly been poisoned with rat poison and would need surgery. Pee Joe tested positive for antifreeze poisoning.
Clark told police the pets of several other neighbors have died because of similar symptoms as Maisy and Pee Joe. He also told police another dog of his died two years ago because of antifreeze poisoning.
Clark put up a sign to warn the neighborhood about the poisonings. He placed the body of Pee Joe on top of a homemade sign that is nailed to a tree to make his point.
Horry County police checked surrounding woods on Tuesday for rat poison and antifreeze that could have led to the dogs being poisoned.
