Georgetown County deputies responded to the Citizens Bank on Ocean Highway about 10:43 a.m. Wednesday for a possible attempted bank robbery.
When they got there, they found Elgin Bernard Cohen, 48, of Spartanburg in the parking lot and arrested him.
Bank employees said Cohen went into the bank and told the clerk that he was going to rob the bank and gestured as if he had a weapon. Then he left without any money.
Deputies charged Cohen with Attempted Bank Robbery. He's being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center.
