A Myrtle Beach company is donating to South Carolina's most-visited artificial reef.
Ready Mixed Concrete recycled some of its unused concrete into cones to be added to the Jim Caudle Reef.
The company says its engineers have been working for more than a year to develop the mold for the cones.
Eventually, vegetation will grow on them, giving the fish a place to feed and congregate.
"What more can we do than to have something like these concretes, which are rock, put out there and have all little holes and things for them to swim through. It's their condos," said Ron McManus, with the Jim Caudle Reef Foundation.
The Jim Caudle Reef is a popular place for fishing near the Little River Inlet.
McManus says artificial reefs are needed along the Grand Strand because of our flat coast.
