Operating hours at the Social Security offices in Conway, Florence, and Bennettsville will be changed to 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Georgetown office will start operating from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Social Security Administration said Tuesday agency employees will continue working regular hours. But, it says, the shorter hours available to the public will help them reduce the cost of overtime pay.
"Congress provided Social Security with nearly $1 billion less than the President requested for the budget this fiscal year, which makes it impossible for the agency to provide the amount of overtime needed to handle service to the public as we have in the past," the agency said in a press release.
Most Social Security services do not require a visit to an office.
