NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - "American Idol" is coming to South Carolina to see if the nation's next big thing has been homegrown right here.

Talent scouts will be holding auditions Friday at the North Charleston Coliseum, but no one is being allowed to camp out at the venue.

Participants will need to pre-register and pick up a wristband Wednesday and Thursday for the North Charleston round of auditions for the 11th season of the popular show.

This is the second time auditions have been held in the area.

The first time was for Season 7.

Hopefuls belted it out earlier this month at tryouts in North Carolina. Raleigh's Clay Aiken was a runner-up in the 2003 season of American Idol. Garner's Scotty McCreery captured the 2011 title in May.
