Frankie Salvatore Pascarelli was arrested after police found his mother stabbed to death in her home. Charges are pending.
Horry County police responded to a home on Shell Pond Lane about 10:30 a.m. Sunday after a 911 hang up call. There was no answer at the home. But they were informed a man showed up at the Loris Police Department, reporting someone in his family assaulted him with a knife at the Shell Pond Lane home.
During an interview, the man said he didn't know why the suspect assaulted him. He also said the suspect's mother was in the house at the time. When officers went back to the home, they found the woman dead from multiple stab wounds.
Deputy Horry County Coroner Tony Hendrick says Cheryl Pascarelli, 57, died from multiple injuries.
Police learned the suspect left the house in his mother's vehicle. They found the car at King's Supermarket on Highway 905 a short time later.
Horry County Police Department's Bloodhound Tracking Team started tracking the suspect. The track led them to the Waccamaw River. Officers continued to track the suspect while notifying the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. With their help, the suspect was found hiding underneath a bridge near the Red Bluff Boat Landing. He was taken into custody without incident.
Police charged Frankie Salvatore Pascarelli, 28, of Loris with murder and assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. He's being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center. Detectives are not looking for any additional suspects connected with the incident.
