Georgetown County Sheriff's Investigators arrested Jeremy Greene, 23, of Georgetown for stealing vases from Morning Glory Cemetery. Greene is charged with Graves/theft or injury of grave property $400 or more.

Sometime between July 8th and July 11th, investigators say at least six brass vases were taken from the cemetary. The missing vases were reported by McKnight-Fraser Funeral Home.

During the investigation, a local recycling center in Georgetown contacted the Georgetown Police Department to report that someone had attempted to sell brass grave vases.

Georgetown police determined that someone was Greene.

Greene told investigators he had put the vases in the trash cans and the cans had been emptied.

The Sanitation Department was contacted and confirmed the trash cans had been recently emptied and were on their way to the county landfill. Upon emptying the truck, 17 brass vases were recovered.

Greene is charged with Graves/theft or injury of grave property $400 or more and is being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center.
