North Myrtle Beach says its not making a decision on whether to allow internet sweepstakes machines just yet.
Hest Technologies asked the county where it would be able to set up the machines, if they're legal in South Carolina. Soon after, Horry County police raided a Little River business and charged a man with keeping unlawful game tables.
North Myrtle Beach says it will wait to see how that case plays out in court before it makes a decision on whether to allow the machines. Solicitors say gambling laws are struggling to keep up with technology. But, the city says, the state attorney general's office indicated the machines are illegal.
