COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Panels working on consumer protection, medical care liabilities and technology issues in a proposed state-run health care exchange in South Carolina are scheduled to meet.

The panels meeting today are part of the South Carolina Health Planning Committee that Gov. Nikki Haley established earlier this  year. It will make policy recommendations about whether it is feasible for the state to create its own health exchange under federal health care law.

If it recommends against creating a state-run exchange, the committee will suggest alternate strategies in a report due on Oct. 28.
