Nearly 100 community members came together Saturday morning for a round of golf to benefit a local cause.
Nonprofit organization 100 Black Men of Myrtle Beach held a golf outing at Shaftesbury Glen golf course in Conway to raise money for the program.
"We can't reach everyone, but the more funding we can get the more children we can reach," James Olds, President of the group said.
The group is made of African-American men with a mission to improve the quality of life for African-American youth.
13-year-old Miles Gunn, a mentee of the program, is one of several that benefits from the program.
"It gives you a lot of exposure, and they teach you how to be a young man. They teach you how to shake hands and be a good person," Gunn said.
"Many times kids don't realize what they're potential is our goal is to help them develop to be stronger, good leaders in the community," Olds added.
100 Black Men was founded as an organization in New York City in 1963. In 1986, the group began branching out into chapters across the U.S. Today there are 116 chapters in the United States, England and the Caribbean.
