Coast Guard evacuates injured fisherman

The U.S. Coast Guard medically evacuated an injured fisherman off the coast of Georgetown Thursday.

Alan Carl, 45, called the Coast Guard at 7:09 a.m. asking for medical help. He was hurt while fishing around the mouth of the North Santee River near Georgetown.

A Coast Guard helicopter crew from Air Facility Charleston arrived on scene just after 8:00 a.m. and flew Carl to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

Carl's injuries and condition have not been released.
