NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Boeing is bringing its new 787 passenger jet to the Charleston area for the first time.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reports Boeing's newest jet is planning to land around noon Monday at the Charleston International Airport after spending time last week at the Paris Air Show and other stops in Europe.

Boeing plans to make its 787 airliners at a new plant opening soon in North Charleston. Company officials hope to be making up to three of the jets a month by 2013.

Boeing officials say the new jet should spend much of its time at the airport and won't be open for public tours.
