Darlington County Combined drug unit officers arrested four people Saturday in Hartsville in connection with a meth lab.
Officers discovered the meth lab in the back of car during a traffic stop.
Hoyt Harrison, 27, and Pepper Boykin Perry, 33, are charged with conspiracy to manufacture meth.
Capt. Andy Locklair with the Darlington County Sheriff's Office says a second car traveling with them was also stopped. Meth lab components were found in that car.
John Padgett, 41, is also charged with conspiracy to manufacture meth.
Hartsville Fire Department's Hazmat team and a team from SLED assisted.
Locklair says the stop led to information about a third meth lab and other illegal activity at a home on Sandbox Road.
Howard Edward Moore, 26, is charged with manufacturing marijuana.
Locklair says the Department of Social Services were called in to assist deputies after two small children, ages six months and four, were taken into protective custody.
"I am glad no one got hurt with this case. Meth labs are very dangerous to be around. The chemicals used to make this stuff are very volatile. If you see evidence that makes you suspect a Meth lab, call law enforcement immediately and explain your concerns. Do not attempt to gather evidence on your own, and never handle any materials that may be associated with a lab," added Sheriff Wayne Byrd.
