CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A State Law Enforcement Division worker has been stripped of his supervisory power and lost $9,000 in annual pay after an internal investigation found he touched female workers and made inappropriate comments.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reports that Christopher Simpson remains in his job overseeing spending some of the $200 million SLED gets from federal homeland security.
SLED Chief Reggie Lloyd says he let Simpson stay because his staff contributed to the atmosphere in the office by making their own inappropriate comments.
In a SLED investigate report obtained by the newspaper, Simpson admitted to some of the behavior. He says it was in jest and an attempt to relive pressure in the office so severe he ended up on anti-anxiety medication.
